Why JAPAN?

THE JA-POW FACTOR

Japan’s snow season runs from late November to late April. With consistent, high-quality snow throughout the season, Japan offers fantastic alpine skiing, as well as Ja-Pow - some of the best powder snow in the world! Japan’s average snowfall is 10m, with areas of Hokkaido getting double that amount! Skiing and snowboarding holidays in Japan are great value for money, even when compared to the cost of European, and North American resorts.

UNIQUE APRÈS SKI

After a busy day out on the snow chill out in a lively Japanese pub, known as an izakaya. Drink refreshing craft or draft beer, or try out the local sake (rice wine) or shochu (traditional distilled liquor). Enjoy traditional Japanese winter food such as nabe: a hearty hotpot dish made with meat or seafood, tofu, and vegetables all cooked in a tasty, warming broth.

THE HOT STUFF &
CULTURE COUNTRY

The perfect way to relax and ease sore muscles following a hard day on the slopes is to take a dip in an onsen: natural hot springs common in most Japanese snow resorts. You can even watch cute Japanese macaques soaking in the onsen of the Snow Monkey Park in Nagano. Japan is bountiful not only in snow, but also in all manner of culture, including temples, shrines, and festivals of which the Sapporo Snow Festival with its spectacular snow and ice carvings attracts people from far and wide.

OUTSTANDING
HOSPITALITY

With accommodation to suit all budgets, Japan has nearly 550 snow resorts across Japan. Why not stay in a tatami-matted room at a traditional Japanese inn, called a ryokan. For dinner wear yukata, a casual type of kimono; and eat some of the best Japanese cuisine you can find. Whatever your budget, Japan’s warm, welcoming, under-stated hospitality will be an ever-present element of your stay.
