Winter Illuminations at YomiurilandTokyo

  • Winter Illuminations at Yomiuriland

Yomiuriland is one of the largest amusement parks in Tokyo, and it can be reached in about 35 minutes from Shinjuku Station. Among the park’s 44 attractions are a giant Ferris wheel, a resort pool, a very fast rollercoaster, a bungee jump and gondola views of the park’s thousand cherry trees in spring.
Winter in Japan is the season for illuminations. From October to February 17, the amusement park transforms into a wonderland filled with LED illuminations when it starts to get dark. Yomiuriland also has one of the most impressive fountain shows in the country. The background music and the myriad of rainbow colors create a magical effect.
It gets cold in Japan in winter, so you should take along gloves, a scarf, a thick coat and heat packs (kairo) to keep warm. I first went to Yomiuriland with a dear classmate during our first few months of flying. We were mesmerized, and Yomiuriland will always hold a special place in our hearts. I hope you will love it as much as we do and create your own happy memories.
